Noteworthy

FCHS

In honor of the class of 2010, students at First Colonial High School donated 2,010 books to a small village in the Philippines to start a library.  Congratulations to the PTSA Gradfest Committee, the Gifted Advisory Board, and the Legal Studies Academy for helping PE Teacher Cindy Midkiff make this possible.

Neighborhood Watch

UNLOCKED Cars:

Over the last several nights four cars in our community were opened and rummaged through.  According to the police, the MO of this type of incident is for a group of 3-6 people to check out all cars in an area late at night to determine which ones are unlocked.  They then open and loot each one. Once they find an area where there are unlocked cars, they tend to keep coming back.  For the safety of your family and your neighbors, please lock your cars at night.

Little Neck is a picturesque community situated on a peninsula in the heart of Virginia Beach.  As you drive down its tree lined streets and stand on its shores looking onto the Lynnhaven River, you find yourself thankful that you have found your haven away from the traffic and sounds of the busy city.

This website is an opportunity for the residents of the Little Neck Peninsula to communicate, promote local events, support neighbors and enrich our community spirit.

Contributions to the website can be made by emailing littleneckvb@cox.net .

The following are a few opportunities to contribute:

Businesses:  Little Neck professionals and students can list their contact information and what services they offer.  It is amazing how much talent we have living right here, but who knows that information when you need it?  Wouldn't it be nice to support our youth with odd jobs or know who can watch your pets when you are gone?  This section is dedicated to this type of exchange.

Community Groups:  All community groups are invited to post a collage of pictures that tells a visual story of what their mission is and how rewarding it is to participate.  Contact information can be posted with links to your official website.

Local Heroes:  Profiles are accepted of people in our community that inspire others.  People that have found their passion and are living it.  People that go out of the way to help others.  People that have been successful in business.  Every neighborhood out there has local heroes.  As a civic league, nominate your monthly hero and send it in to be posted on the website.  As a Girl/Boy Scout troop, you have a hero...  Maybe it's your troop leader, a teacher, or another scout.  Let us know so that we can post the profile.  As a resident you have a neighbor that has touched you, send in a hero story.  Or, as a child, you look up to others and want to tell your story of how someone has affected you.  Please send in profiles with pictures to littleneckvb@cox.net .

Special Thanks:  Similar to Local Heroes, but just random acts of kindness that deserve our thanks.  Our newest thanks comes from the Little Neck Cove Community:  Residents thank the volunteer Little Neck Cove Neighborhood Watch Block Captains for not only keeping a watchful eye out for us all, but for also, over the many years, and without question or complaint, distributing the civic League Newsletter and other neighborhood flyers to keep all well informed.  Thanks neighbors!

Community News:  Little Neck Residents team together to write children's book in the hopes of raising money to help build a school in Maissade, Haiti.
