Special Guest Speaker

Kings Grant Civic League will have a soldier who has recently served in Iraq/Afghanistan to speak at its meeting on March 20th.  The speaker has been asked to discuss how our troops feel about serving there and their perception of how they are received by the local population.  He can also speak on any other aspects of his tour over there.

Noteworthy

FCHS

In honor of the class of 2010, students at First Colonial High School donated 2,010 books to a small village in the Philippines to start a library.  Congratulations to the PTSA Gradfest Committee, the Gifted Advisory Board, and the Legal Studies Academy for helping PE Teacher Cindy Midkiff make this possible.

Neighborhood Watch

UNLOCKED Cars:

Over the last several nights four cars in our community were opened and rummaged through.  According to the police, the MO of this type of incident is for a group of 3-6 people to check out all cars in an area late at night to determine which ones are unlocked.  They then open and loot each one. Once they find an area where there are unlocked cars, they tend to keep coming back.  For the safety of your family and your neighbors, please lock your cars at night.

Community Location

Redwood Farm is situated east of the Lynnhaven River, west of Little Neck Road, north of Michaelwood and south of Little Neck Cove.

History

The community is clearly marked by a sign leading onto Redwood Farm Drive, a street that runs the length of the neighborhood.  The wide drive smoothly connects to a series of cul-de-sacs, so there are no worries of getting lost.  No meandering, twisting roads or no way that you end up in another neighborhood.  Many of the 74 homes in the neighborhood are tucked back in on thickly wooded lots; the trees building a sturdy fortress of privacy for residents.

Plat maps show the land was recorded as a subdivision in 1974.  It has been over thirty years since Redwood Farm was started and the large, treed lots of one acre or more remain a primary attraction.  Another bonus is having a community that borders the Western Branch of the Lynnhaven River.  During those wilting days of summer it can many degrees cooler her.
