FCHS

In honor of the class of 2010, students at First Colonial High School donated 2,010 books to a small village in the Philippines to start a library.  Congratulations to the PTSA Gradfest Committee, the Gifted Advisory Board, and the Legal Studies Academy for helping PE Teacher Cindy Midkiff make this possible.

UNLOCKED Cars:

Over the last several nights four cars in our community were opened and rummaged through.  According to the police, the MO of this type of incident is for a group of 3-6 people to check out all cars in an area late at night to determine which ones are unlocked.  They then open and loot each one. Once they find an area where there are unlocked cars, they tend to keep coming back.  For the safety of your family and your neighbors, please lock your cars at night.

Community Location

Little Haven is located between the Bishopsgate and Middle Plantation neighborhoods off Little Neck Road.  It is a heavily treed community of approximately 75 homes home of the former but memorable Hurds Restaurant.

History

Little Haven is located on the shores of the Lynnhaven Rivers and is surrounded by nature.  We are home to osprey who nest on our channel markers; bald eagles that rest in our trees; foxes who travel through our wooded lands; egrets and herons who fish on our shores; raccoons who roam our yards at night; and many others.

Prior to the 50's our community was a favorite hunting area.  Virginia Beach residents built small structures on their land for weekend visits.  Along the shores of the Lynnhaven River were acres of oysters so oyster roasts were held on a regular basis.

In the 50's small brick ranch homes were built thus starting permanent residences and the beginnings of this peaceful and isolated neighborhood.
