Noteworthy

FCHS

In honor of the class of 2010, students at First Colonial High School donated 2,010 books to a small village in the Philippines to start a library.  Congratulations to the PTSA Gradfest Committee, the Gifted Advisory Board, and the Legal Studies Academy for helping PE Teacher Cindy Midkiff make this possible.

Neighborhood Watch

UNLOCKED Cars:

Over the last several nights four cars in our community were opened and rummaged through.  According to the police, the MO of this type of incident is for a group of 3-6 people to check out all cars in an area late at night to determine which ones are unlocked.  They then open and loot each one. Once they find an area where there are unlocked cars, they tend to keep coming back.  For the safety of your family and your neighbors, please lock your cars at night.

First Colonial High's Gradfest Committee is hosting an Tennis Round Robin to benefit Gradfest 2010 and the FCHS Tennis Teams:

TENNIS TOURNAMENT SPONSORHIP OPPORTUNITIES

What?  FCHS Tennis Round Robin on April 24th at the Virginia Beach Tennis & Country Club to benefit Gradfest and FCHS Tennis Teams.

Why?  The two highest risk nights for teens are prom and graduation.  It is NOT enough to tell our teens to “Just say, ‘No!’” We must give them an alternative to which they can and will say, “Yes!”  Gradfest is an  All-Night Alcohol-fee and Drug-free Celebration to keep the children in our community safe and tragedy free on one of the highest risk nights of  the lives....  graduation night.

How can you help?  We truly depend on the generosity of the members of our community to help provide this alternative activity of our teens.  Support the families in your community with a financial donation to the First Colonial Gradfest Committee.  Your tax-deductible donation may be made payable to “FCHS PTSA” and sent to:

All donors will be publically recognized in our Beacon ad and will have signage at all Gradfest events including the tennis tournament on April 24th.  In addition, Platinum and Gold Gradfest donors will have a special notation in the Graduation Program given out on Graduation Day.  It is with heartfelt appreciation that we thank you for your time and consideration.
